Job Opportunity – Assistant Needed

I’m looking a wingwoman assistant to help me, Sara, at the gallery. This is not just a receptionist or greeter position. I need someone who can help with, well… everything. The many tasks I don’t always have time to do myself (or honestly just really don’t want to do), along with greeting customers, selling tickets and merchandise, and working with Square.

The ideal person is a strong multitasker and self starter who enjoys research, busy work, learning new things, and interacting with customers. You should be able to stay calm in stressful or high pressure situations and help keep things organized when things get chaotic.

You don’t need to be an artist, but you should appreciate art and have some interest in horror or spooky pop culture, since that’s what SugarMynt is about. You don’t need to know everything, but you must be willing to learn.

I love working with people, and I’m looking for someone who can help me stay organized and execute the many moving parts that go into running the gallery. You’ll learn my systems and how I do things, but if you have ideas for better or more efficient ways to do something, I’m always open to that too.

Requirements:

•Must be flexible with scheduling

•Must have weekend availability

•Must be 21 or older
•Must have your own laptop
•Must have a car (and ideally live fairly close. Not an hour or more away. It won’t be worth it)

Example tasks may include:
•Researching things for upcoming exhibits, fact checking details, looking into materials we may need, comparing prices, and figuring out the best places to get things

•Helping organize inventory, artist information, and keeping things structured so nothing gets lost or forgotten

•Assisting with customer interactions during open hours and helping make the gallery a welcoming environment

•Helping install and prep exhibits. This includes real hands on work such as patching and painting walls, spotting me while hanging artwork, moving things around, keeping things organized while we set up, and basic cleaning like sweeping or vacuuming when we inevitably make a mess

•Boxing up artwork that sells, carefully packing it for shipment, printing labels, and handling the shipping process including dropping packages off

•Working every exhibit opening event and being present during setup periods leading up to it

•Replying to emails, emailing artists, and helping keep communication organized

Hours are mostly on weekends and vary depending on what’s happening at the gallery, such as exhibit setup weeks versus regular open hours after an opening. This is primarily a part time position, but hours can fluctuate from 10hrs to 40hrs, depending on exhibits and events. Some weeks may be lighter and others busier. Schedules are communicated in advance so you know what to expect. Most shifts are typically between 12pm to 5pm or 12pm to 8pm, as the gallery does not operate before noon.

Starting at $18/hour with opportunity for growth based on performance.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy and you think you’d make a great wingwoman, reach out. I’d love to hear from you.
